Today I attended Toronto’s annual alternative craft show City of Craft. This is my second time at this event and I love coming because you always get to meet tons of interesting and creative people and the venue is bustling with activity and high energy. There are so many pretty things to look at, precious things to buy and delicious things to eat! They even have a few free workshops throughout the day, so you definitely get a bang for your two bucks.

Everything was SO beautiful and tempting, but in the end, I left with only one purchase. I got this gorgeous porcelain red poppy pin (see below), made by Julie Moon, as a birthday gift for my grandmother. At last year’s City of Craft, I bought a “doppelganger” face brooch from her, which I love and still wear every chance I get. I would have loved to buy a whole bunch of new loot for myself, but being the holiday season and all, I guess it’s better to give than to receive (*sigh*)…

Other than Julie Moon’s booth, a few of my other favourite booths and items (that were new to me this year) were Raymond E. Biesinger’s poster prints (some of his work is for sale on his etsy shop). I especially liked this camera “surveillance” print and another print of a map of Europe. I also loved the knitted garments at good night, day, especially this braided headband (which was sold out by the time I got there!) Lastly, I loved the gorgeous illustrations and drawings by Selena Wong. She has a really wonderful aesthetic and an apparently deep connection with rabbits.
